A Night Racing Around the World with Ken Legler


Steamboat Springs Yacht Club in conjunction with US Sailing is proud to bring Ken Legler, world renown one-design sailor, coach of Tufts Sailing and former US One Design Sailing Team coach, race manager and 8 time blind sailing national champion (as a sighted guide) to Steamboat for a night of exciting pictures and stories of his experiences sailing around the world.


The presentation will include

1984 470 worlds and 2003 America's Cup in New Zealand,
1985 College sailing tour of the British Isles,
1985 Finn Gold Cup and Marstrand Race Week in Sweden,
1985 Kiel Week in Germany,
2014 College big boats ocean sailing in France,
2002 Blind racing Worlds in Lake Garda, Italy,
2013-2016 Chester Race Week and windsurfing touring in Nova Scotia,
2012 One-design racing in Downeast, Maine,
1996-present Key West Race week with maxis, foiling cats, and all kinds of big boats,
2007-2013 Olympic class racing at the Miami Gold Cup,
1984-present College sailing all over the East Coast and elsewhere,
2008 One-design racing on the Great Lakes,
2007-2009 One-design racing in San Francisco,
And many other venues such as Newport, RI, Boston Harbor, Columbia River Gorge, Hawaii.
There are over 100 different kinds of sailing craft, mostly racing, from foiling moths to schooners and everything in between.

The presentation runs about an hour and Ken will be available for speaking or Q & A on any number of topics including:
Keeping a loyal crew, playing the odds to stay clean while racing,
Lake racing tricks and techniques, what's the right boat for you,
and other topics.
