Show 7:15

Maricopa - An American Border Tale, is written and produced by local Steamboat Springs author Jorge Avila. It is also produced by Christopher Wadopian, stars Christian G. Nieves, and is directed by Michael Edward Staley.

This performance is a one-man staged reading where a single actor will play six different parts throughout the 75-minute play.

This avant-garde piece speaks intimately about the injustices many immigrant families endured in Arizona during the late 1990s and early 2000s. More specifically, during the proposal of SB 1070 and the resulting racial profiling that many immigrant families were, and still are subject to.

There will be a brief talkback after the show with the creators.
