Michael Braunfeld is, first and foremost, a storyteller. His songs capture the everyday triumphs and struggles of ordinary people. His characters – though trapped in the particular circumstances of their own lives – appeal to a universal audience. Michael lives in Philadelphia but also has a home in Steamboat.

The Songwriter Series presents

Patty Larkin

with special guest Michael Braunfeld

Dear Friends of the Chief Theater:

We have been closely monitoring developments on Coronavirus (COVID-19) and following guidelines suggested by the CDC, State of Colorado, and all our governing agencies. As you all know the situation is changing by the hour and after much deliberation with our Board of Directors we feel that it is in the best interest of all, to postpone many of our upcoming events.

Patty Larkin's show will be rescheduled. We will be reaching out to all online ticket holders when we have a new date.

Ticket purchases will be honored for the new dates.

Patty Larkin redefines the boundaries of folk-urban pop music with her inventive guitar wizardry and uncompromising vocals and lyrics. She grew up in a musical and artistic family in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Descended from a long line of Irish American singers and tale-tellers, her mother was a painter, her sisters both musicians. She learned at a young age to appreciate the beauty of the arts. She sang throughout her high school and college career, starting out in coffeehouses in Oregon and San Francisco. Upon graduation from the University of Oregon, she moved to Boston and devoted herself to music, busking on the streets of Cambridge and studying jazz guitar at Berklee College of Music and with Boston area jazz guitarists. In 2005, Patty Larkin produced La Guitara, a compilation of international women guitarists challenging the notion that there are no great women guitarists. She has also performed on numerous compilations and her songs have been featured in several films.

Patty is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Berklee College of Music, where she was an Artist in Residence. Patty has earned eleven Boston Music Awards and has been honored by Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino with “Patty Larkin Appreciation Day” in recognition of her philanthropic contributions to non-profit organizations.

BOSTON GLOBE: An uncommonly articulate guitarist, she has evolved into one of the finest self-accompanists anywhere in popular music.

NEW YORK TIMES: A virtuoso guitar player and mood-shaper...She is also a superb slide guitarist whose mature work is comparable to the best of Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams.

CHICAGO TRIBUNE:  Patty Larkin is one of the most gifted performers in music today. A remarkable guitarist, an imaginative and versatile vocalist, Larkin turns in a riveting performance.

BILLBOARD: An absolutely stunning guitarist, Larkin matches her instrumental chops as a vocalist and songwriter, making her a true triple-threat artist.
